  • Test your knowledge of the world we live in. Four-person teams will compete to demonstrate their global acumen at the Quiz Bowl.
  • Experience fashion, music and dance performances. Students, faculty and staff take to the runway in traditional and cultural clothing for a Fashion Show.
  • Also enjoy live musical and dance performances and food from around the world!

International Photo Competition

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Global Health Program is kicking off with a bang! As part of its week-long launch across the MCW campus, the Global Health Organization is hosting an international photo competition to display the work of our talented medical community. We are seeking your photos from health-related trips abroad.  These photos will be exhibited all week in the lobby outside the MCW cafeteria from November 28 – December 2. The public will vote for 3 talented winners who will be awarded a prize!

Health Opportunities in Alto Cayma, Peru

Father Alex Busuttil, executive director of Alto Cayma Mission from southern Peru is visiting the Milwaukee area.  On the outskirts of Arequipa, Peru is a community driven to improve its health. The Alto Cayma mission provides consistent and culturally sensitive health care delivery which includes a primary care clinic with dental and eye care, a day care center for children, a mobile meals program, vocational programs, a community center with training classrooms and a computer lab.

This mission in Alto Cayma has had a significant amount of support from entities from Wisconsin Rotarians, Mt. Mary College and the Columbia College of Nursing and the Affinity Health Care System Foundation of the Fox Valley.

Participants who attend this lecture will:

  1. Gain knowledge about the health issues of the Alto Cayma region
  2. Learn about global health initiatives being conducted in rural Arequipa
  3. Hear about opportunities to get involved

Dr. Stephen Hargarten has been selected as a Johns Hopkins Scholar.  The Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars, which was established in 1967, honors former postdoctoral fellows and junior or visiting faculty of Johns Hopkins University who have shown distinction and excellence in their fields of study.  The Society inducts 15 new members each year.
