►Re-activation of an Applicant

Applications remain on file for three (3) years. Applicants who have either withdrawn their application or were rejected for admission within that period may request that their retained application be reconsidered (re-activated) for the next admission cycle. The request for re-activation must be in writing and should be submitted to the Graduate School.

If the applicant would like to add supporting materials or update the application in any way, a new application fee of $50 is required. It is in the applicant’s best interest to update the application and, if relevant, include information on what the applicant has done during the past year. New letters of recommendation may also help if authored by a recent supervisor who can address the applicant’s improved preparedness for the degree program of interest.

►Transfer from Another Graduate School

In general, applicants to a graduate program at MCW are only accepted upon completion of the degree program in which they are currently matriculated. In special circumstances students may apply for transfer into graduate programs at MCW after having only partially completed requirements for a graduate degree at another university. Transfer will be considered upon recommendation of the MCW graduate program if the following conditions are met:

• At the time of application, the academic status of the student at the other university is clearly documented and the reasons for wishing to transfer are clearly disclosed by the student.
• The student has provided 3 letters of recommendation: 1 from the mentor or research advisor, 1 from the Graduate School Dean, and 1 from someone who can appraise the student's work at his/her present school.

If transfer is allowed, then the following requirements apply:

• The program into which the student wishes to transfer will compare the course work completed at the other university with the curriculum required at MCW. That analysis will define which courses remain to be taken.
• The applicant must meet the following requirements of an MCW degree program regardless of whether any have been fulfilled elsewhere:

1. 2 semesters of full-time study.
2. Successful completion of the qualifying examination conducted by members of his/her program.
3. Successful completion of the thesis or dissertation under regulations which exist here.
4. Successful completion of all other requirements of the program.
