Underrepresented Scholars in Biomedical Research (USBR)



Underrepresented Scholars in Biomedical Research is a non-profit student-run organization at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) whose purpose is to serve as a support system: academic, emotional and social to MCW minority graduate and post-doctoral students.

The goals of our organization are:

A.      Organize events that promote recruitment and retention of minority students at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

B.      Engage in community mentoring programs that provide a greater appreciation of science and education in students from elementary school to college in an effort to increase the number of minority students that consider careers in the scientific field.

C.      Partner with local minority medical and scientific groups for community service programs that target minority populations in Milwaukee.

D.     To serve as a resource for minority scholars at MCW in order to facilitate successful navigation of their chosen career path in Science.
