Nick Kettenhofen and Kasia Broniowska Win "Young Investigator Award"

"Free Radical Award" WinnersThe Society for Free Radical Biology and Medicine annual meeting took place November 14-19, 2006 in Denver, Colorado. Two of our graduate students Nick Kettenhofen and Kasia Broniowska traveled to Denver to attend the SFRBM 2006 13th Annual Meeting. A previously unpublished abstract needed to be submitted prior to the attendance at the symposium in addition to attendance at the symposium. Nick and Kasia submitted the following abstracts:

2D-DIGE Method for the Proteomic Analysis of Thiol Modifications (Nick Kettenhofen, Neil Hogg)

Transport Dependent Effects of S-Nitrosothiols on Apoptosis and Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury (Kasia Broniowska, Enis Novalija, Neil Hogg)

Both Nick an Kasia were winners of the "Young Investigator Awards". At the annual meeting 15 "Young Investigator Awards" were given out of a pool of over 200 applicants. The award is limited to students and post-docs and is based on quality of work and the ability to present the work. In addition to the honor of receiving the "Young Investigator Award" Nick and Kasia received $500 plus free registration to next years meeting.
