Kerry Veth, PhD

Why did you choose to come to MCW?
After my admissions interview, I was really impressed by the faculty who had shared their research with us. I had looked at some of faculty web pages and read their research interests, but when I heard them speak about it, you could really feel their excitement and passion for their work. I wanted to come to a school where professors and mentors would be able to pass that inspiration on to us as students
Comment on life in Wauwatosa or Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is a great place to live – I feel like it's a perfect combination of a big and small city, because you can really get to know it well, and get around town easily, but there will always be new things to try, too. There are great restaurants and bars and beautiful parks, and a really nice county golf course system.
What advice would you give to a prospective student or first-year about the MCW experience?
I really appreciated being in the Interdisciplinary program and being able to try out labs in different departments. You learn a lot about the department by spending a rotation in it, and you can get a good feeling for if it is a place you feel comfortable in, and would want to spend the rest of your time in.
