The primary objective of this interaction is the development of collaborative research & development, and transfer of medical advances into the commercial sector. In FY 2007-2008, College faculty and students reported 40 new discoveries and inventions to the College's Office of Technology Development. The College currently has 250 pending and issued patents in the U.S. and foreign countries. The College has launched 18 start-up companies and licensed technologies to pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biotechnology and medical device corporations.
