Elaine Drew received her PhD from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Kentucky, and a certificate in medical behavioral science from the Department of Behavioral Science in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. As an applied medical anthropologist, her research orientation draws from anthropological holism, action research, and the ecological model of health behavior to examine how individual, social, and structural factors shape health and illness in different cultural contexts. Her research interests include culture and chronic diseases, women’s reproductive health, and health disparities among indigenous and economically disadvantaged populations.
