Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin (AHW) 10th Anniversary Event
Thursday, May 8, 2014
Sheraton Milwaukee Hotel
Purpose: The Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) has concluded ten years of programming, distributing more than $160.3 million for funded projects and initiatives to improve Wisconsin’s health. AHW will sponsor a conference to highlight and promote the successes and lessons learned of those funded efforts. The conference will highlight the scope of funded education, research, and community-academic partnership projects and provide opportunities for collaboration among and between partners. AHW will also be providing additional information related to the 2014-2019 Five-Year Plan, moving from Grantmaker to Changemaker, by designing strategies for maximizing impact and improving evaluation.
To build public support through dissemination of project results, achievements and lessons learned.
To highlight the scope and variety of community-engaged partnerships, research projects and educational collaboration formed over the past ten years.
To promote informal discussions and the exchange of ideas among participants regarding their goals and efforts related to the AHW mission and vision.
To provide opportunities for researchers, educators and community-based organizations to connect and network around community-engaged research project and partnerships.
To inform participants of the strategies outlined in the AHW 2014-2019 Five-Year Plan that will maximize impact to improve health outcomes for Wisconsin residents.
Call for Presenters/Posters
The aim is to showcase a component or findings of currently and previously funded AHW projects while setting the stage for significant dialogue among conference participants. Each breakout session, organized by themes, will have a mix of community-academic partnership projects, research projects and educational programs that have been funded by AHW. We encourage innovative and interactive methods to share funded project results – followed by dialogue, discussion and learning among fellow presenters and conference attendees. It is anticipated that up to five (5) funded projects will present in each breakout session.
Within the Call for Presenters and/or Posters (PDF) you will find complete information about the session formats and how to submit. We encourage you to share how your current or previously funded project has or will contribute to improving the health of Wisconsin residents.
Deadline for submissions is midnight on Friday, December 6, 2013.
AHW Excellence Awards - Call for Nominations has been closed.
In 2014, AHW will celebrate ten years of investing in community health partnerships, research and education to improve the health of Wisconsin residents during a day-long event.
As part of the celebration of this important milestone, AHW sought nominations to recognize distinguished accomplishments among its funded projects. Awardees will be honored at a special awards ceremony dedicated to recognizing outstanding funded projects.
The awards represent achievement in three aspects of this mission, and AHW will recognize two recipients in each category, one from the AHW Research and Education Program and one from HWPP.
The awards will be given at a ceremony during a ten-year anniversary event that will bring together partners on funded projects for a day of sharing on Thursday, May 8, 2014. The anniversary event will be held at the Sheraton Milwaukee Hotel in Brookfield, Wisconsin. There will be no registration fee to attend the event.
