Community Partner Team from the 2010 VPI Call for Partnerships Project Start Date: 11/1/2010 Project End Date: 6/30/2015
Award Amount: $1,050,000
Project Goals: The Holton Youth + Family Center Collaborative will use a three-tiered approach to youth violence prevention founded on an evidence-based structure that addresses an array of community voiced and data driven needs from the Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods. The Collaborative uses the Targeted Tier, Nurturing Parenting Program, Community Investment Program and Restorative Justice practices. The Collaborative design will reduce violence by stopping the cycle of dysfunction at the individual, family, and systems levels that result in marginalization, disempowerment, and disconnection – all of which lead to criminality, gang involvement and violence.
