Apply For Funding

HWPP awards support innovative projects implemented by Wisconsin partners, in Wisconsin communities, for the benefit of Wisconsin residents.

To apply for HWPP funding, applicants must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI).  The deadline for LOI submission for the current funding cycle has passed.  For additional information, please refer to the 9th Funding Cycle timeline at the bottom of the page.

HWPP Funds Two Types of Awards

Development Awards:

  • Support new partnerships as well as previously and currently funded community-MCW academic partnerships to build synergy and strength around the development of a pilot project aimed at testing or demonstrating the feasibility of an idea.
  • Activities may include the creation of a strategic plan, action plan, or planning and/or community needs assessment activities related to the development of a project or program.
  • Typically, Development Awards run for 1-2 years with a maximum duration of two (2) years.
  • Direct cost budgets are generally $50,000 to $200,000 with a maximum award amount of $200,000 over the life of the award.

Impact Awards:

  • Support established community-MCW academic partnerships (up to five years) to build on the work of their previous project(s) and/or partnership experiences.
  • Applicants must clearly demonstrate measurable outcomes from their prior partnership experience and how new funding will expand the scope and impact of the partnership.
  • The proposed project must be more than an extension in funding for a previous project. Applicants must identify how new funding will expand the scope and impact of a prior project and the partnership, bringing them to a new level of transformation.
  • Awards will support the implementation of a health promotion or health-related prevention project and/or program. Project activities should include capacity building strategies, evaluation, dissemination and translation of successful project results.
  • Typically, Impact Awards run for 2-5 years with a maximum duration of five (5) years.
  • Direct cost budgets are generally $200,000 to $750,000 with a maximum award amount of $750,000 over the life of the award.
