Charity Navigator Rates Medical College “Exceptional”

Charity Navigator, America’s leading independent evaluator of charity organizations, has rated the Medical College of Wisconsin “exceptional” among Wisconsin charities assessed. This is the ninth consecutive year that the Medical College received a four-star rating from the New Jersey-based organization, and the second year in a row the Medical College received a four-star rating using Charity Navigator’s new two-dimensional rating system.

The Medical College earned a four-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances, according to Charity Navigator. Only 12 percent of the charities examined by the evaluation service nationwide have received two consecutive four-star evaluations under the new system.

Charity Navigator rates charities by examining, financial performance, accountability and transparency. Receiving four stars indicates that an organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities, and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. The service is provided to help donors across the country make informed giving decisions.
