The Injury Research Center at the Medical College (IRC-MCW) was established in 2001 as a comprehensive, federally funded Injury Research Center to address the Burden of Injury in the Great Lakes Region, also known as Region V. Consisting of 6 states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin), Region V is home to over 50 million people and represents 18% of our nation's population.
Located on the campus of the Medical College of Wisconsin, the IRC-MCW is an interdepartmental collaboration of diverse specialties which contribute to its strength. Through research, education, training and outreach, the IRC works to fulfill its mission of preventing and reducing injury deaths and disabilities while improving care of injured patients in Wisconsin and the Great Lakes Region.
