The list includes individual electronic books from the Medical College Libraries' subscriptions to resources such as AccessMedicine, Books@Ovid, Current Protocols Online, Encyclopedia of Bioethics, Foundations in Wisconsin, MD Consult, PsychiatryOnline, Red Book Online, Safari Books Online, STAT!Ref, and Thieme ElectronicBook Library.  The list also includes selected free electronic books.  You can browse the titles in the list or choose the Limit This Search feature to search keywords in the author, title, or subject fields of the MCWCAT records.  See About MCW E-Books for more information.

Online service that allows users to quickly search the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of emergency cases with the most trusted emergency medicine texts and references.  Includes procedures, instructional videos, image library, fully integrated drug database updated in real time, and specialized search capabilities for limiting searches to pediatric-related topics only, or images and videos only. AccessMedicine
AccessMedicine, updated daily, is an innovative online resource that provides access to books and services for physicians, students, and health professionals who need immediate access to authoritative and current medical data for clinical decision making.  Includes Goodman & Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, Harrison's Online, Hurst's The Heart, Scriver's OMMBID, LANGE Educational Library, >50 cases from the Lange Case Files series, and the Lange Self-Assessment Tool powered by USMLEasy.com for USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3 review. American Hospital Directory
Provides online data for over 6,000 hospitals. The database of information about hospitals is built from both public and private sources including Medicare claims data (MedPAR and OPPS), hospital cost reports, and other files obtained from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  AHD is not affiliated with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and is not a source for AHA Data.  Free services available to all.  Professional services available to MCW only.  User ID - mcw   Password - ahd

MCW Libraries Books@Ovid now contains 78 key medical, nursing and pharmacological texts.  From your desktop you can get answers to your diagnostic, patient care and reference questions. Cell Signalling Biology

Encyclopedia of Bioethics
The Encyclopedia of Bioethics, Third Edition addresses basic concepts and explains the interrelationships between ethical principles and the demands of scientific and technological innovations.  The Encyclopedia is a complete revision of the Dartmouth Medal-winning set first published in 1995.  The Third Edition presents 457 articles from over 500 experts plus a large collection of codes and oaths across all the healthcare professions, as well as research ethics guidelines and regulations.  A print version of the 5-volume set is also available in the Todd Wehr Library Reference Collection.  The call number is WB 13 E56278 2004.  Purchase of the title is supported by a generous gift from Ms. Julia A. Handbook of Antimicrobial Therapy
This handbook is an encyclopedia of information on the treatment of infectious diseases. It specifies the drugs of choice for every type of infection, with their dosages, cost and adverse effects.  Access is provided via the Medical Letter Institutional Version.  Updated every other year.

Harrison's Online
Online version of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (16th ed.) and many related and derived resources such as links to late-breaking clinical trial data, atlases and PreTests. MD Consult

PsychiatryOnline
Online access to DSM-IV-TR Library and The American Journal of Psychiatry plus other trusted references for diagnosis, treatment, research, and professional development.  Produced by American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc.  Unlimited PDA downloads. Safari Books Online
Premier information source for leading-edge computer technologies. Contains information on databases, networking, operating systems, programming, and the Internet (Web, Java, and XML). Select business reference books are also included. A current list of titles included in the MCW Libraries' subscription can be searched and browsed in Safari by choosing "My Bookshelf." Scriver's OMMBID: The Online Metabolic & Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease

Bartleby.com: Great Books Online
Bartleby gives full text access to many literary classics. Included are verse, fiction and non-fiction works. Reference works include standard dictionaries,  encyclopedias, and books of quotations. Looking for that "perfect quotation," check out this site.

FreeBooks4Doctors
FreeBooks4Doctors promotes free access to medical books on the Internet. It currently links to over 650 free medical books. Books are arranged by title, specialty or language.

The Health Library at Stanford
A community service of Stanford Hospital and Clinics, The Health Library web site provides scientifically-based medical information and health education to help individuals and families make informed decisions about their health and health care.  There are links to many free electronic books and directories of interest to consumers and health professionals alike.

MedicalStudent.com
Links to medical textbooks and other full text sources on the Internet on a variety of medical subjects from anatomy to urology. Also contains links to patient simulations, consumer health information, CME & board exams/review questions, handheld computer medical resources, and medical organizations.

National Academy Press
The National Academy Press (NAP) was created by the National Academies to publish the reports issued by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council. NAP publishes over 200 books a year in the areas of science, engineering, and health. Over 3,000 full-text titles are available online.

NCBI Bookshelf
This is a growing collection of biomedical books provided by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in collaboration with authors and publishers. The books can be searched directly or accessed via PubMed article abstracts through the "Books" hyperlink.

The On-Line Books Page
This site facilitates access to 25,000+ books that are freely readable over the Internet for personal, noncommercial use. The books can be browsed by author, title, or Library of Congress subject category. There is also a book search feature.

Terminology Collection: Online Dictionaries
Links to general language dictionaries for several languages and links to specialized dictionaries including medicine, biology and chemistry. Also included are links to dictionaries of acronyms, slang and etymology.
