AccessSurgery

A comprehensive resource for surgery education that provides textbooks, videos, animations, a differential diagnosis tool, interactive board review, downloadable PDA content, and more.

ACP Journal Club's general purpose is to select from the biomedical literature articles that report original studies and systematic reviews that warrant immediate attention by physicians attempting to keep pace with important advances in internal medicine.  The articles are summarized in value-added abstracts and commented on by clinical experts.

PIER© is a collection of over 400 evidence summaries published by the American College of Physicians. Each module provides authoritative guidance to improve the quality of care.

An evidence-based, proprietary database from The Medical Letter of adverse drug interactions. Searches for interactions between 2 and up to 12 drugs; also includes management recommendations and references are hyperlinked to the original literature. Updated regularly.

Exam Master OnLine (EMO) is a Web-based medical board preparation and review resource. The product includes over 19,000 questions and explanations for preparing for the USMLE Steps 1-3 and Family Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, SPEX, Dental, Pharmacy, and Physician Assistant Certification exams. GenomeWeb

GenomeWeb LLC is an independent, privately-held online and print publisher based in New York.  Content includes GenomeWeb Daily News, The Daily Scan, and Genome Technology magazine. As of March 2011, anyone who registers with a .edu e-mail account can gain access to the content within GenomeWeb at no charge.

Online version of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (16th ed.) and many related and derived resources such as links to late-breaking clinical trial data, atlases and PreTests. Also includes links to Clinical Practice Guidelines.  

This database provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines and also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals.  

Part of Web of Knowledge, the aim of the JCR is to provide a systematic and objective means of determining the relative importance of science and social sciences journals within their subject categories. Information for each title includes the impact factor and the immediacy index.

A comprehensive online medical information service which contains more than 50 full-text medical reference books, full-text key medical journals, 1,000+ peer-reviewed practice guidelines, drug information, patient education handouts.

The Medical Letter is an independent, peer-reviewed publication that offers unbiased critical evaluations of drugs, with special emphasis on new drugs, to physicians and other members of the health professions. Published every other week in a four-page newsletter format, it carries no advertising and is supported entirely by subscription fees. Coverage is from 1988 to the present.

MEDLINE is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 19 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to 1948. PubMed and Ovid include links to full text articles and other related resources.

MedU is a database of virtual patient cases designed to supplement traditional clerkship teaching and patient care activities with the clerkship student in mind. Each case provides the student the opportunity to respond to multiple choice questions or write responses to questions about the case with immediate feedback provided.  Access to MedU is available to anyone with an MCW e-mail account.  You must register to use MedU.

Contains DRUGDEX^®, IDENTIDEX^®, POISINDEX^® and CareNotes™. DRUGDEX delivers unbiased drug information.  POISINDEX identifies ingredients for hundreds of thousands of commercial, pharmaceutical, and biological substances.  

Provides access to numerous sequence databases including Nucleotide, Protein, Genome, Structure, and SNPs. The remaining databases are Taxonomy, Gene, UniGene, HomoloGene, Conserved Domains, 3D Domains, UniSTS. Links to the Human Genome, Map Viewer, and BLAST, are on the toolbar.

Pubget is a search engine for PDFs in the life sciences. It indexes nearly 20 million life science research documents, including those in PubMed®.

PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 19 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to 1948 and earlier. PubMed LinkOut includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

Scopus is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources with tools to track, analyze and visualize research.  Coverage includes more than 19,000 peer-reviewed journals in science, technology, medicine and social sciences from over 5,000 international publishers. Scopus is integrated with RefWorks. Updated daily.

Researchers, educators, students, and clinicians now have improved online access to a compendium of genetic disorders and information from the entire field of genetics.  OMMBID provides the latest knowledge on the molecular and metabolic underpinnings of a growing list of inherited diseases, as well as updates on pathophysiology and treatment.

UpToDate is a clinical information resource designed to provide health care professionals concise, practical answers needed at the point of care. (The vendor license does not allow remote access or access through the Library's proxy server.)
