Thriller at Miller: MCW Students vs. Marquette Dentistry School

Marquette University School of Dentistry students will once again take on students from the Medical College of Wisconsin, in the fourth annual Thriller at Miller softball game. The series stands at 2-4 in favor of MCW. MUSoD won the first game, MCW the last two. The classic rematch between MCW and MUSoD where student play for bragging rights and of course the prestigious Caduceus Cup trophy is scheduled for Saturday, July 24th at Helfaer Field/Miller Park.

Scheduled events include The Village at Manor Park’s Super Students Softball Showdown (a non-competitive softball game), beginning at 1:30 p.m., followed by the competitive student softball game beginning at 3:15 p.m. Family focused entertainment includes the Mascots Home Run Derby, featuring Bernie Brewer and the Racing Sausages against Bango the Buck, Marquette University’s Golden Eagle, Roscoe from the Milwaukee Admirals, Crest Sparkle Man, and Parky “The Village” Bear beginning at 4:45 p.m. Additionally, the Bucks Seniorgee! dancers will perform.

The annual Thriller at Miller softball game is a fundraiser for the MCW Senior Mentor Program (SMP) at the Village at Manor Park. Village at Manor Park is a senior living community on Milwaukee’s south side, and the Senior Mentor Program is an elective that first-year students can take as part of their required Clinical Continuum course. The program matches students with older adults associated with the Village at Manor Park and educates the students on the aging process. It is coordinated by Mary E. Cohan, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Geriatrics and Gerontology), and David W. Lillich, MD, Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine.
