Public Health

Public health focuses on entire populations and their health rather than individuals and their diseases. Emphasizing prevention and health promotion, public health professionals often implement educational programs, develop policies, administer services, and conduct research. According to CDC’s MMWR, the 20th century’s 10 greatest public health achievements in the U.S. include:

1. Vaccinations 6. Safer and healthier foods
2. Motor-vehicle safety 7. Healthier mothers and babies
3. Safer workplaces 8. Family planning
4. Control of infectious diseases 9. Fluoridation of drinking water
5. Decline in deaths from coronary heart disease and strokes 10. Recognition of tobacco use as a health hazard

This program is designed to meet the needs of busy individuals who are interested in public health and already hold a bachelor’s degree.
