The Division of Neoplastic Diseases and Related Disorders is composed of 4 academic sections, including solid tumor oncology, hematological malignancy, blood and marrow transplantation, and palliative care services. It consists of 23 full-time faculty, 3 PhD scientists, 10 Hematology/Oncology fellows, one Palliative Care fellow and 13 research coordinators.
The Division practices at two hospitals, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The Medical College of Wisconsin has very strong Departments of Radiation Oncology and Urology and Divisions of Surgical Oncology and Gynecological Oncology.
There is an institution-wide commitment to interdisciplinary clinical care and research for patients with cancer. We are active members of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG), National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), Seattle Blood Marrow Transplant Consortium, National Cancer Institute (NCI)-sponsored Phase I/II Cancer Chemo Prevention Contract, and the NCI-sponsored University of Chicago, Phase II, new drug development contract, and the Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT.CTN), and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) sponsored cooperative group.
The Division is one of 8 members of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored, Northwestern University Coordinated Consortium holding one of 6 NCI-directed Phase I and II cancer chemotherapy prevention contracts. The Medical College blood and marrow transplantation program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and we are one of three institutions that hold a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) contract to study blood and marrow transplantation as treatment for multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases.
The Division is closely integrated with the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), who also functions as the coordinating center for the NHLBI/NCI sponsored Blood and Marrow Transplantation Clinical Trials Network. The Division is closely integrated with the Blood Center of Wisconsin, which is one of the premier clinical and research blood centers in the country.
