Sleep Disorders Program
Drs. Humberto Battistini (Department of Neurology) and B. Tucker Woodson (Department of Otolaryngology) co-direct the Sleep Disorders Program. The Sleep Disorders Program is a multidisciplinary effort to provide comprehensive and high quality care to patients with sleep disorders. Obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and insomnia are just a few of a variety of sleep disorders that can be diagnosed and treated at the Sleep Disorders Clinic. When needed for further evaluation, testing can be done in our state-of-the-art Sleep Lab. Most sleep disorders are treatable, and there is a broad range of treatments available to the sleep specialist, including behavioral modification, breathing aids, medication and surgery, depending on the specific disorder diagnosed. We also have faculty members doing research in basic sleep physiology. Dr. Carol Everson, PhD is studying the neuroimmune and hormonal mechanisms affected by sleep deprivation.
