A Message from the Neuroscience Doctoral Program Director

Dear Prospective Students,

Welcome to the Neuroscience Doctoral Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin! I am very pleased to lead this program at such an exciting time of discovery and potential in the field of neuroscience.

Our Neuroscience Doctoral Program has a number of unique attributes that we hope you will find exciting and appealing:

• Close affiliations between The Medical College and Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Zablocki Veteran’s Administration Medical Center facilitate the development of collaborations between basic science researchers and clinicians to develop highly translational “Bench to Bedside” research projects
• MCW faculty to student ratio is low, such that students are able to develop close scientific relationships with multiple faculty mentors, in addition to their Principal Investigator.
• The friendly, collegial, interdisciplinary atmosphere between departments and between laboratories facilitates multidimensional interactions, such that students can visit other labs to learn a new technique or approach, or develop a novel scientific collaboration.

Ultimately, this rich, engaging environment allows our Neuroscience faculty to train you to approach scientific problems using innovative techniques, state-of the-art equipment, and tap the experts for scientific resources and development of ideas.
