Neurosurgery Facts

The department is a mature practice:

· Neurosurgeons staff the only two Level One Trauma Centers in southeastern Wisconsin

· 13 of 29 Milwaukee neurosurgeons are in the Department

· 13 of approximately 64 Wisconsin neurosurgeons are in the Department

· International leaders in spine surgery and spine biomechanics, brain injury, and neurotrauma

The department’s 2007 surgical experience:

· Over 3,500 procedures at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital

· 55 Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgical cases

· Over 600 procedures at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin

· Over 200 procedures at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center

The Neurosurgery Department has placed a significant number of residents in academic positions:

· 46% of residents have taken academic positions

· 60% of fellows have taken academic positions
