Apr. 04 - Kristen Quinn, MD, MS, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She will see patients at Froedtert Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital, Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Oconomowoc Hospital. Dr. Quinn is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and her clinical interests include multiple gestations (twins, triplets, etc.), prenatal diagnosis, fetal intervention, and hypertensive (high blood pressure) disorders of pregnancy.
Dr. Joseph E. Kerschner recently became the third alumnus of the medical school to be named its Dean and the first in history with a Medical College of Wisconsin diploma. In a new interview, he discusses his path to this leadership role, his ideas and motivations, and his thoughts on alumni engagement.
Mar. 05 - In honor of Women’s History Month, the Medical College of Wisconsin has created a series of video vignettes and stories that will be posted on InfoScope during the month of March. The vignettes highlight many of our women faculty, staff and students and the contributions they have made. The stories highlight MCW programs that improve women’s health or help women develop as students, physicians, researchers, educators and leaders.
Jan. 13 - Randall Kuhlmann, MD, PhD, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, has been named program director of the Fetal Concerns Center of Wisconsin by Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. The center is a joint program of Children’s Hospital, Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin, an endowment of the Medical College, has awarded funding to 250 projects to date, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention in Wisconsin communities.
An advanced genetic screening method, developed by Medical College physicians and scientists, is helping couples to have a baby born free of inherited disease.
Medical College researchers are national leaders in discovering genes linked to obesity and its complications, and are committed to finding medical therapies that will prevent or reverse the development of obesity.
Oct. 18 - The Mead Witter Foundation, Inc., has made a gift of $100,000 to support women’s cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Oct. 11 - A ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce was held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Greenfield Highlands Health Center. Greenfield Highlands is the eighth primary care location for Froedtert & The Medical College. The center offers internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, walk-in clinic, SpineCare, full service lab through Dynacare Laboratory, and imaging services by The Center for Diagnostic Imaging.
Sept. 19 - Shama Mirza, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in the Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center, and Denise Uyar, MD, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Gynecology Oncology), received funding from the Mead Witter Foundation for research on women’s health. Their research project is focused on identifying biomarkers for disease.
Aug. 22 - The new Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Greenfield Highlands Health Center opened today. It is located at 4455 S. 108th St., just north of Budget South Cinema in Greenfield.
Aug. 18 - Erika Peterson, MD, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Maternal Fetal Medicine) at the Medical College of Wisconsin and to the medical staffs at Froedtert Hospital, Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Oconomowoc Hospital. Dr. Peterson’s clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis, including chorionic villi sampling (chorionic villi are part of the border between maternal and fetal blood during pregnancy) and amniocentesis, cardiac disease in pregnancy and isoimmunization.

The Senior Awards Dinner for the Medical School Class of 2011 was held May 19, 2011, at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee. The night was an opportunity to celebrate four years of accomplishment with friends and family.
Commencement was held for graduates of The Medical College of Wisconsin on May 20, 2011, at the Milwaukee Theatre. A total of 275 degrees were awarded to students of the Medical School and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, consisting of 206 MD, 21 PhD, 25 MS, 12 MA, and 11 MPH degrees.
July 18 - Janet Rader, MD, Chairman and the Jack A. & Elaine D. Klieger Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is one of the study authors of a paper in the June 30 issue of the journal Nature that analyzes the genetic makeup of ovarian cancer tumors.
July 07 - E. James Aiman, MD, a 29-year faculty member at the Medical College of Wisconsin who twice served as Acting Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, died July 5. He was 68 years old.
July 07 - Dr. Robert D. Kern and Dr. Patricia E. Kern have established an endowed chair at The Medical College of Wisconsin that will provide dedicated resources and leadership to the Medical College’s Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center.
By late summer, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin will open a new health care center in Greenfield, adding an eighth off-campus clinic and expanding neighborhood access to Medical College physicians.
