The Application Process

Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

 

Program Information

The Residency Program of the MCW Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology website was designed to offer applicants a fairly comprehensive overview of our residency program in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Selected applicants are invited to Milwaukee for a personal interview in the fall and winter of each year. The residency offers seven first-year positions annually.

All applications must go through ERAS.  Your final application must include:

 
  1. ERAS Application
  2. At least 3 letters of recommendation (but 4 will be accepted) from the faculty of your choice. (We recommend one letter from your OBGYN Department Chair and/or Program Director.)
  3. Your Dean's Letter
  4. Personal statement
  5. Medical School Transcript
  6. USMLE/COMLEX Scores

No prior U.S. experience is required. H1B visas are the most accepted type by MCWAH. International medical graduates must follow all ECFMG guidelines and apply through ERAS, in addition to supplying all of the documents listed above.

Interview Dates for 2008-2009 Academic Year

All interviews are offered at the departmental offices.  Interview days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.  Interviews begin at 8:00 a.m. and generally conclude around 1:00 p.m.

Interview Status Information

A total of 10 interview positions are available for each interview day. Prospective candidates will be notified via e-mail of any missing documentation and then e-mailed again once the applicant file is complete and has been approved for an interview by our faculty. 

Hotel/Lodging Information for Interview Days

The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center has provided Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin with a Lodging & Resource Guide 2008 (PDF).
The Crowne Plaza, located just a few miles from the Medical College of Wisconsin, is not listed on this guide but opened in April 2008. Please visit their Web site for more information www.crowneplaza.com/milwaukeewi.
When making your reservations, be sure to mention that you are with the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Parking Information for Interview Days

MCW-Ob/Gyn Pavilion Lot:

Take Wisconsin Avenue to 87th Street
Go North on 87th Street

Go past Doyne Avenue and past the multi-level parking structure

Turn left at the black Froedtert/Medical College of Wisconsin Clinics/Pavilion sign
(this is next to the surface lot-where you will park)

The entrance for the Pavilion building is on the west end of the parking lot. There is a small canopy at the entrance (sliding glass doors marked Pavilion Entrance)

Please come in the sliding glass doors and follow the signs to the pavilion elevators

Upon entering the pavilion elevators please be sure to push "2" and NOT "2P" !!! On "2" follow the hallway to the "Lab" Building
(a curved hallway). Watch for signs for Ob/Gyn Faculty Offices and for Ob/Gyn Interviews.
