General Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Generalist Division is the core of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We have a number of faculty physicians and advanced practice providers who all see women for both obstetrical and gynecologic care. We are active clinicians, teachers and researchers and work closely with the other specialty providers within our department to offer the full range of obstetrical and gynecologic health care. Our outpatient clinic is located on the 4th floor of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Specialty Clinics building and we admit patients to Froedtert Hospital for inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care.

Our generalists are broadly trained to care for women with a wide range of gynecologic and obstetrical concerns including routine prenatal care, well-woman exams for PAP smear, breast and pelvic exam; abnormal menstrual bleeding; benign tumors of the uterus and ovaries (such as fibroids and cysts); abnormal PAP smears; and routine contraceptive management. In addition, many of our providers have special areas of interest to provide care for women with more complicated gynecologic problems including perimenopausal and midlife health; HIV infection; contraceptive management and family planning counseling for women with complex medical problems; obstetrical and gynecologic care for adolescent women; and evaluation and management of urinary and fecal incontinence. We also have physicians trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgery techniques.

Our clinic is equipped with a procedure room where we can perform minor outpatient such as Essure hysteroscopic sterilization, endometrial ablation for management of abnormal bleeding, office hysteroscopy, LEEP for the treatment of cervical dysplasia, and manual vacuum aspiration for the management of failed first trimester pregnancy. More complicated surgery is performed at either the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Sargeant Building or at Froedtert Hospital. Obstetrical care is provided at the Froedtert Birth Center which is located within the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for easy access to the newborn and special care nurseries.

Many of our physicians are recognized annually by Froedtert Hospital for the high quality patient care we provide and most of us have been named to Best Doctors in America. We are very serious about the quality of care we provide and about patient satisfaction and believe in continuous improvement of the care we provide to our patients. We encourage women to be active participants in their health care and in the decision-making process.
