About eBridgeMCW

The eBridgeMCW Web-based software will allow researchers to submit, track, report and archive research activities involving grants, contracts, human, and animal research conducted at the Medical College of Wisconsin at any time and from any place using a single portal. Currently, two eBridge modules - Human and Animal research submissions - have been implemented.

The addition of the Grants and Contracts module to the eBridge platform is planned for Spring 2008. The incorporation of the human, animal and grants components is only part of this comprehensive undertaking to provide an automated and compliant research program. Additionally, eBridge will integrate with MCW's Oracle systems, a step that will add functionality to post-award account administration.

General eBridge Information

In order to enter a protocol into eBridge, investigators must be registered in eBridge.  Link to eBridge Registration Instructions.

Please contact the eBridge Help Desk if you have questions regarding registering, navigating, or entering information into eBridge. The eBridge Help Desk contact information is 456-8476 or help-ebridge@mcw.edu. eBridge staff will respond to these messages within 4 hours of receipt during normal business hours. If your question pertains to a particular submission, please remember to reference the entire protocol number when contacting the eBridge Help Desk for assistance.

eBridge Electronic Signature

The Medical College of Wisconsin has certified to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the institution is compliant with 21CFR Part 11, Electronic Records and Electronic Signatures.

eBridge - Human Studies

The eBridge - Human Studies enables the MCW/FH Institutional Review Board (IRB) to capture the entire IRB regulatory process, monitor the flow of information and the associated activities and tasks for all users, delivering a complete electronic document based solution for Human Trials Regulation.

All new protocols, amendments, continuing review reports, and reportable events must be entered into eIRB. This includes proposals that investigators believe may be non-human subject research or exempt from IRB review. Exceptions are: protocols that remain in paper with IRB permission, NCI CIRB submissions, HUD submissions, and requests for emergency use.

For those unfamiliar with eBridge, accessing the eBridge Training Materials is recommended to help you become more familiar with the system. The smart forms (forms that will be completed in eBridge) will help you to provide the IRB with information it needs to review your submission.

When a submission is begun in eBridge, it will be assigned a number beginning with the following:

  • PRO = protocols
  • AME = amendments
  • CPR = continuing progress reports
  • RE = reportable events
eBridge - Animal Studies

The eBridge - Animal Studies enables researchers to submit, track, report and archive research activities. eBridge also allows MCW to effectively manage federal and local regulatory requirements. The electronic interface optimizes the review process for researchers by tracking and communicating submission status and required actions, and will automatically notify investigators of renewal due dates.
eBridge allows the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to monitor the flow of information and activities associated with animal research at MCW.

eBridge - Grants & Contracts

The Grants & Contracts eBridge module provides a single access point to create, submit and track all funding proposals at the College. eBridge also will integrate with MCW's Oracle systems, a step that will add functionality to post-award account administration.
Features of the eBridge Grants & Contracts module include:

  • Electronic grant submission
  • Web-based accessibility to grant & contract information anytime, anywhere
  • Guided electronic input of grants
  • Electronic routing and approvals
  • Budget creation using institutional templates
  • Automatic e-mail notifications for requested changes from Grants & Contracts reviewers and/or sponsors
