Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.)

Student Placement Opportunity

An important part of our commitment to the profession of audiology and our mission as an educational facility is to mentor future audiologists. We fulfill this commitment by offering a fourth year placement for Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) students.

The Au.D. externship is comprised of fifty weeks. The fifty week period will include four predetermined rotations, each twelve weeks in duration, and two weeks personal time.

Rotation 1:  Diagnostic Audiology

Rotation 2:  Amplification and Aural Rehabilitation

Rotation 3:  Cochlear Implant

Rotation 4:  Cumulative Experience

Each of the rotations will last a minimum of twelve weeks and will occur in the order presented. However, if it is determined by the supervising audiologists that additional time is needed in a specific rotation, additional time will be scheduled accordingly. The rotations will be with the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences of the Medical College of Wisconsin's Koss Hearing and Balance Center, located at Froedtert Hospital; and the Koss Cochlear Implant Program at both Froedtert Hospital and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Please note these rotations are subject to change based on individual student experience and education, as well as contract between the Medical College of Wisconsin and the student's university.

Rotation 1:  Diagnostic Audiology

• Earmold Impression Taking & Earmold Modifications

Rotation 3:  Cochlear Implant
