Koss Cochlear Implant Program
A multidisciplinary team of audiologists, speech pathologists, psychologists, an otologist, and a deaf educator working at FMLH and CHW care for adults and children with severe to profound hearing losses, who are unable to benefit from hearing aids.

A clinical and clinical research program with cochlear implants is led by Drs. Wackym and and Chris Runge-Samuelson, PhD are interested in the evoked electrical responses of cochlear implant patients, and the correlation to auditory prosthesis performance.

The Program is the only one in the State of Wisconsin able to offer and implant all three available devices and is one of 20-40 centers in the USA participating in cochlear implant clinical trials. Our program's outcomes with auditory brainstem implants are among the best in the world.

Acoustic Neuroma Program
The Acoustic Neuroma Program is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to the microsurgical or radiosurgical (G
amma Knife) management of these common non-cancerous tumors arising from the vestibular nerve.

The group has pioneered the use of surgical endoscopes in acoustic neuroma surgery to decrease complications and focus efforts on hearing and facial nerve conservation during surgery.

Neuromuscular Facial Nerve Retaining Program
The Neuromuscular Facial Nerve Retaining Program has been created with the Section of Speech/Language Pathology, for the rehabilitation of patients who have a variety of facial nerve disorders.

National Awareness for this work was recognized recently when the department hosted the National Acoustic Neuroma Association Meeting in Milwaukee in June 1999. Over 400 people attended the meeting.

Balance Disorders Program
Balance Disorder Program
includes all available state-of-the-art diagnostic testing equipment for the assessment of auditory and vestibular function. This includes the only computerized sinusoidal vertical axis rotational chair testing unit in the region.

This resource therefore serves multiple institutions and both adult and pediatric patient populations.

Hearing Aid Program and the Universal Infant Hearing Screening Program
The Hearing Aid Program and the Universal Infant Hearing Screen Program at the Froedtert Birth Center in the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin represent a commitment to the early diagnosis and intervention of hearing loss for individuals of all ages.
