Sandra Muchka joined the Palliative Care Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in March of 1997. The responsibilities of this role include nursing assessment of patients referred to the Palliative Care Consultation Service, co-facilitator of the nurse preceptorship program for Palliative Care, and coordinating/facilitating the annual review course for the Hospice and Palliative Nurse exam . She is also the nursing coodinator for the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) Palliative Care Learning Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her background includes 25 years experience as an oncology nurse in the acute care and ambulatory settings, and in home hospice nursing., She is a member of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
Joan Golden joined the Palliative Care Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin in September of 2002. Responsibilities of her role include nursing assessment of patients referred to the Palliative Care Consultation Service, and nursing and physician education on pain assessment and palliative care. Joan's background includes 16 years experience as an oncology nurse in an inpatient oncology unit at the University of Minnesota. Joan is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), the Southeastern Wisconsin Oncology Nursing Society (SWONS), and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
Ruth joined the Palliative Care Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin in June 2005. Her responsibilities include advanced practice nursing assessment and management of patients referred to the Palliative Care Consult Service and nursing and physician education regarding palliative care issues. Ruth's background includes over 16 years experience in a variety of patient care settings including general medicine, cardiology, urology, and hospice care. Her advanced practice nursing focus is as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Health. Ruth is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA) and the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association (HPNA).
Margaret Donegan joined the Palliative Care Team in May 2007. As a nurse practitioner, she provides evidenced-based physical, psychosocial, emotion and spiritual/existential care and recommendations for patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Margaret is a recent master's graduate of Marquette University with post-graduate board certification in geriatrics. She has over 30 years of acute and community health care experience, most recently as a home hospice nurse. Margaret is a member of the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners (NCGNP), Milwaukee Metro Nurse Practitioners (MMNP) and the Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association (HPNA).
