Suhas Phadnis, Ph.D.
414-384-2000 x41637
Dr. Phadnis obtained his Ph.D. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India in Molecular Biology in 1982. He trained in the department of Microbiology at Washington University Medical School as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and as Research Associate from 1983 to 1994. Dr. Phadnis joined the department of Pathology at Medical College of Wisconsin and as Biologist at Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee in 1994.
Dr. Phadnis is interested in applying PCR based molecular techniques towards identifying pathogenic micro-organisms in clinical microbiology laboratory.
As part of his clinical duties, he provides molecular expertise in identifying and tracking pathogens to clinical microbiology laboratory. He is interested in Helicobacter pylori pathogenesis. Specifically, he studies the mechanism of urease surface localization and it's function in allowing H. pylori to survive gastric acidity.
