Dr. Plaza trained in anatomic and clinical pathology at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH (2002-2006). This was followed by a surgical pathology fellowship at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN (2006-2007), and then a subsequent fellowship in dermatopathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, The University of Texas (2007-2008). Dr Plaza moved to the Medical College of Wisconsin in, July, 2008, and assumed the position of Director of Dermatopathology.
Dr. Plaza has published articles in the main journals of his field, American Journal of Dermatopathology, Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Cancer, among others. He also has written book chapters on his area of expertise. Dr Plaza’s main area of research in dermatopathology includes melanocytic neoplasms, cutaneous lymphomas, adnexal tumors and superficial soft tissue tumors.
