After completing his initial pathology training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India, Dr. Rayasam K.S. Nagarjun Rao, M.D. went to the United Kingdom where he trained at various hospitals including the Royal Victoria Hospital, St. George’s Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. He completed the UK equivalent of the American Boards (MRCPath), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, UK (FRCPath). Upon coming to the United States, Dr. Rao did an anatomic pathology/clinical pathology residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University, followed by a cytopathology fellowship at the Metrohealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. He joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in January 2001 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Rao is a surgical pathologist/cytopathologist with a special interest in Pulmonary Pathology. His research interests are clinical in nature. He is interested in the pathology and clinical types of interstitial lung diseases, with emphasis on some of the rarer types, such as Pulmonary Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis.
