GENERAL INFORMATION
One year cytopathology fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin offers advanced training in cytopathology with emphasis on fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and selective application of ancillary techniques.The fellow will have increasing levels of responsibility commensurate with the level of performance. Emphasis is also placed on the integration of surgical pathology with cytopathology.The fellow will participate in the service responsibilities, teaching, and research activities of the department.The laboratory processes more than 85,000 specimens per year (It processed 86,806 cytopathology specimens in year 2006: Gyn- more than 80,000 [Conventional and Liquid based (SurePath® and ThinPrep®], Non-gyn- more than 4,000) with an expanding FNAB service. Research opportunities are available in immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and various subspecialties of anatomic pathology including GI, Gyn, Urology, Pulmonary, Breast, Hempath, Neuropath, Cytopathology, and General surgical pathology.The fellow will also be responsible for the cytopathology conference presentation to the residents and for active participation in resident teaching in cytopathology.
Requirements: Board certification or eligibility in AP or AP/CP (including USMLE III).
Stipend: Commensurate with the applicant's level of training.
