Application Process - Residency

Only applications submitted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service—Association of American Medical Colleges) will be considered. Information about ERAS may be obtained from the AAMC. The following documents should be submitted through ERAS for your application to be reviewed:

  1. Curriculum vitae
  2. One page personal statement
  3. Official medical school transcript
  4. Official transcript of USMLE or COMPLEX score(s), documenting passing scores on parts I and II
  5. Dean's Letter
  6. Three letter's of recommendation

Additional Information for International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

The residency program is open to international medical graduates. Fluent conversational and written English is required. Prior US experience in the form of clinical training or an advanced degree from a US institution is desirable but not required, and is considered in the context of the rest of the application. Observerships and externships are not relevant. Preference may be granted to applicants that are not more than 5 years from medical school. A clinical skills assessment may also be required. 

The Medical College of Wisconsin may sponsor H-1B visas for residents (additional visa information). ECMFG certification is not required for application or interviewing but is required for the match.

Completed applications must be received no later than December 1st.  Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by the program coordinator to arrange for a mutually suitable time.  Interviews typically begin in October and are completed by late January.

Application Process - Fellowships

Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by the program coordinator to arrange for a mutually suitable time.

  1. Completion of the application form.
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. "Personal Statement" highlighting your future plans and any specific interests within Pathology you might wish to pursue during your fellowship
  4. Minimum three letters of recommendation
  5. USMLE Results (Steps 1, 2, 3) documentation
  6. Citizenship/visa status indicating your ability to work in the United States
  7. ECFMG Certificate (if International Medical Graduate)
  8. Copy of your current state medical license
  9. Must be eligible for Wisconsin medical license
