Suzette joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in July 1997 as the first Outreach Program Coordinator for the Center for Science Education. Ms. Svoboda-Newman has taught chemistry at the college level as a graduate teaching assistant at Stanford University and spent seven years managing College's K-12 and community adult outreach efforts.

She continues to support the College's science outreach educational efforts as a Program Coordinator for the Center for Science, Health, and Society and is responsible for helping design, implement, and evaluate projects examining questions that arise in the interactions between science, health, technology and society. She is currently working on initiatives that explore the ethical, legal and social issues surrounding advances in genetics and is especially interested in how medical research can be translated into patient care and how to best communicate research findings to community audiences.

Suzette also has a strong interest in how to use technology as a vehicle for interactive communication and was appointed to the Medical College's Web Council in 2002. In addition, as a member of the Junior League of Milwaukee, she has spent the last three years leading the development and implementation of the Junior League of Milwaukee's new website to support and enhance community leadership and volunteerism.

Ms. Svoboda-Newman holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Chemistry from Stanford University and a Master of Science in Biochemistry with Honors from the University of Michigan.  In 2003, Suzette was selected as one of 20 women to participate in the Wisconsin Women in Government Seminar in conjunction with the La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was selected as a Medical College of Wisconsin Employee of the Month in the MCW World publication in 2002.
