Graduate Physician Assistant Surgical Program

The Medical College of Wisconsin Mark B. Adams Post Graduate Physician Assistant Surgical Program (PGPA Program) is a 12-month postgraduate certificate program for NCCPA certified Physician Assistants.  The nature of this program is to provide additional exposure to physician assistants and provide in-depth specialized training in surgery.  Our mission is to provide a comprehensive program to train the Post Graduate Surgical Physician Assistant by preparing them to practice in a variety of surgical settings and specialties.

Admission Requirements:

• Graduation from a PA Training Program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• Bachelor's degree
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification - completed prior to program starting date
• Wisconsin PA License - temporary license in place prior to start
• Official transcripts from colleges and PA school
• Copies of BLS and ACLS certification
• One-page typewritten narrative stating why you are interested in postgraduate surgical training
• Three letters of recommendation
• Official NCCPA Exam scores
• Signed copy of the application
• Current resume

The application process does not require an application fee.

Credential Awarded: 

A certificate of completion will be awarded from the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery.
