Research Interest
In Dr. Auchampach’s lab, I have entered a whole new exciting world of adenosine receptors. The A2B adenosine receptor is the only low affinity adenosine receptor functioning mainly under high levels of adenosine (or simply stress). It exerts both tissue protective and deleterious effects playing big roles in inflammation and during hypoxic conditions in various organs and in the vasculature. I aim to study the relevance of this receptor during pathophysiological conditions in the heart, using mouse genetic tools and pharmacological agents. There seems to be a relationship between A2B receptors, certain interleukins and fibrosis in the heart. I start by understanding this relationship.
