Cheryl A. Maurana, PhD Program Director, serves as Interim Chair and Professor of the Department of Population Health, and Senior Associate Dean for Public and Community Health. Dr. Maurana received her PhD from Purdue University, completed a four-year U.S. Public Health Service Fellowship in health services research and has received national recognition for her work in public health research and community partnerships. At the Medical College of Wisconsin, she has created a number of partnerships both within the College and with communities for improving health in the Milwaukee community and the state of Wisconsin. Dr. Maurana plays a leadership role in the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin program, a statewide community-academic partnership, research and education initiative formed from the $300 million endowment from the conversion of Blue Cross/Blue Shield United of Wisconsin.

Dr. Maurana has received national recognition for her work in public health research and community-academic partnership development. As part of her graduate training, she participated in a United States Public Health Service fellowship program by Dr. Robert Eichhorn.
