Welcome! If you are a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow in the sciences, this symposium is focused on your personal career development. There is an increasing realization that young scientists will need more than just superior laboratory skills for successful careers in science. This day-long event is intended to introduce you to some of the other skills that are generally not part of scientific training (communication, networking, negotiation, teamwork) and to provide information on some career paths you might consider (public policy, biotech industry). An outstanding panel of speakers has been assembled and you are invited to be part of the audience of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students from universities across the Midwest.
