    Electrodiagnostic Services: Guidelines, Compliance and Outcomes; VA HSR&D Merit

Determine the scope, quality, and outcomes for EDX service provision in the Veterans Health system and among elderly Medicare beneficiaries.  The aims are: (1) to determine the extent of electrodiagnostic service provision in the Veterans Health Administration and the Medicare program, (2) to examine variations and differences in electrodiagnostic care provided to Veterans and elderly Medicare beneficiaries; and (3) to examine the relationship between EDX testing characteristics, adherence to EDX guidelines, and subsequent outcomes of care.

Objective of this study is to identify patterns of electrodiagnostic services provision in the US, describing characteristics of providers among a large, diverse group of privately insured persons. To elucidate of geographic variations in practice as well as differences in the extent of testing across different providers.
