Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Research at Medical College of Wisconsin

The Research Program has been established to advance the science and the practice of physical medicine and rehabilitation by conducting research aimed at studying and reducing impairments and functional disabilities due to disease or traumatic events.

Our current funding comes from a variety of sources:  The National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, Whitaker Foundation and pharmaceutical companies.  The Department also funds projects for collection of pilot data on innovative research.

We have collaborations with the faculty from Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Our collaboration with Marquette has established the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Engineering Center (OREC) which supports multiple platforms on which to conduct research.
