Search Tips

The Search by Health Concern uses a mapping technology which maps consumer health terms to both medical specialties and providers. You will find that the best results come from entering a diagnosis or disease rather than the name of a procedure or treatment.

• After you type three letters, suggestions will appear that you can choose from. Don't worry if you are not sure how to spell something because the tool will correct for spelling. You can enter a term that makes sense to you and the tool will map it to the physicians who treat that condition.
• You may find that the system returns more results than you expect. The Medical College of Wisconsin Office of Clinical Informatics is currently working to refine the mappings and provide more precise results for a number of conditions.
• When you have a preliminary list of physicians, you can use the filters on the right to narrow the list based on physician specialty, location, language, gender, patient age, clinic name, or hospital affiliation. To apply filters, select "Apply Filter."
