Dr. Wichman Co-Authors Study on Bipolar Women who are Pregnant

Aug. 14 - Dr. Christina Wichman is co-author of Harvard Medical School-led study published in Psychiatric Annals that found that there is an increased risk of decompensation during the course of pregnancy for bipolar women. Psychiatric providers are encouraged to proactively discuss pregnancy plans and treatment options during pregnancy with bipolar women. Healio

Initiatives Address Wisconsin’s Shortage of Psychiatrists

Aug. 11 - A front-page investigative report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel details efforts to address Wisconsin’s statewide lack of psychiatrists. The article notes that Michelle Broaddus, PhD leads the Child Psychiatrist Consultation Program that provides pediatricians and family medicine practitioners with phone access to child psychiatrists. The program, offered in Central Wisconsin and Milwaukee, is a State of Wisconsin-funded initiative with additional funding from the Charles E. Kubly Foundation. $1.5 million gift establishes Charles E. Kubly Psychiatry Access Project Endowed Fund

Aug. 10 - Milwaukee-area philanthropists Dr. Michael and Mrs. Billie Kubly have made a $1.5 million gift to the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) to establish an endowed fund to support a unique project that gives pediatricians and family physicians tools to identify, diagnose and treat children with mental illness and mental health issues.
