Child Psychiatry Clinic (414) 266- 2932
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division focuses on the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents and families. They provide second opinions, diagnostic evaluations and make treatment recommendations. Psychotherapy is also available through the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin clinic. The division continues to focus on the psychiatric problems of inpatients with chronic medical conditions. Members of the division also participate in studies of treatments for a variety of psychiatric conditions. An excellent, two year, child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship is offered that produces strong clinicians with ample opportunity for research and administrative exposure. Research has recently become a strength of the division as well. In collaboration with other investigators from the medical center campus, clinical trials, and pharmacogenomics, functional MRI and studies of phenomenology for a variety of diagnoses are underway or under development. The division receives funding from NIMH, foundations and the pharmaceutical industry to carry on these studies.

At a time when insurance benefits have been reduced or lost and HMO care is only for short term, the Psychotherapy center is an especially valuable community asset, providing the highest quality service with an affordable and adjustable fee structure.

Columbia Hospital

Columbia Hospital is located in a well-known section of Milwaukee's energetic east-side. The tree-lined neighborhood, shared with many long-time residents and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is an ideal setting. The hospital and adjacent medical arts building are just a short distance from visitor parking and are handicap-accessible. Not far from Lake Michigan, Columbia Hospital is easily accessible from anywhere in southeastern Wisconsin.

Columbia Hospital offers an inpatient rotation and a comprehensive outpatient experience at the Psychotherapy Center. These services provide required and elective rotations. Columbia Hospital is close to the department's Division of Psychoanalysis and the Wisconsin Psychoanalytic Institiute.

Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center

The Klement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center is a 505 bed hospital that provides internal medicine, inpatient psychiatry, and addiction medicine training for first year residents. The required geropsychiatry rotation occurs in the outpatient clinic here. Electives in inpatient and consultation/liaison and post traumatic stress disorders are available.

Froedtert Hospital

 

Located in the western suburbs of Milwaukee, Froedtert Hospital has played a critical role in contributing to the quality of life in Wisconsin and northern Illinois since opening its doors in 1980. More than 650 Medical College of Wisconsin physicians and more than 3,000 staff members are dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and medical education at this premiere teaching hospital. Through Froedtert's strong partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, patients benefit from new, life-saving drugs, medical devices and breakthrough surgical techniques.

This is the major teaching hospital of the Medical College of Wisconsin and provides the clinical base for the consultation/liaison on the medical and surgical services. Internal neurology training and one month of emergency medicine rotation for first year residents also occur at Froedtert Hospital.

Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex

The Behavioral Health Division provides care and treatment to developmentally, emotionally, and mentally-ill adults, children and adolescenst through both County-operated contracts and programs and community agencies. Services include intensive short-term treatment through our crisis services and inpatient services. Long-term inpatient care is available through the division's nursing home programs.

Located on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, the Mental Health Complex has extensive inpatient, outpatient, day hospital, emergency and community support services. This is the setting for the residency's required and elective rotations. In addition to the above, there are rotations in forensic psychiatry and community clinics.

St. Mary's Hospital

 

A beautiful east-side campus is home to St. Mary's Hospital of Milwaukee and the Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Institute. Various other facilities, including clinics and a physician office tower are within easy walking distance of the hospital and vistor parking. Views of Lake Michigan and a historic water tower enhance the landscape and serve as valuable directional landmarks. The hospital is easily accessible from anywhere in southeastern Wisconsin, just a few minutes from downtown Milwaukee. St. Mary's provides some of the medicine training in the first year, taught on the inpatient units at St. Mary's Hospital.

Rogers Memorial Hospital-Milwaukee Campus

Rogers Memorial Hospital Milwaukee is licensed as a psychiatric hospital by the State of Wisconsin and accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation for Health Care Organizations. Rogers Memorial provides quality care at many levels of intensity.

Rogers Milwaukee is one of the primary sites for inpatient psychiatry rotations during the first year of adult psychiatry training and also provides a location for electives and a child psychiatry day treatment experience.
