Michelle Cornette, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. An Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, she concurrently holds a position as Assistant Professor with the Injury Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Cornette earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida.
Dr. Cornette has been awarded a fellowship through the National Science Foundation to explore her interests in suicidality.
Her research program explores the interpersonal, behavioral, and cognitive underpinnings of suicidal ideation, suicidal behaviors, and depression. She maintains a related interest in suicide prevention programming and evaluation. Additionally, she is a co-investigator on a multi-site project funded by the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, seeking to better understand the role of atypical antipsychotic medications in the treatment of suicidal symptoms among bipolar patients.
