Jon E. Gudeman, M.D.
Jon E. Gudeman, M.D. is Professor of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and Psychoanalysis in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is Director of the Psychotherapy Center at Columbia Hospital. Dr. Gudeman attended Harvard University for undergraduate training and Harvard Medical School for his post-graduate education. Jon completed his Internship at the University of Chicago and completed his Psychiatry Residency at Massachusetts Mental Health Center, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gudeman also completed training at the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Dr. Gudeman has been selected to the Medical College of Wisconsin Society of Teaching Scholars, has received the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Distinguished Service Awards, and he has received the American Psychiatric Association’s Administrative Psychiatry, Hospital Psychiatry Research, and Community Psychiatry Awards. The Department’s faculty teaching award is named the “Jon Gudeman Golden Apple Psychiatry Faculty Teaching Award” in honor of Dr. Gudeman.
Dr. Gudeman’s academic interests include psychodynamic theory and practice, evaluation and care of serious mental illness in the hospital and community, and classification and care of depressive disorders.

Referral Preference: Dr. Gudeman enjoys working with a broad group of patients: late adolescents, adult, and elderly people. He also does Family and Couple’s work and does organizational and forensic consultations.
