Richard Barthel, M.D.
Richard Barthel, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Barthel graduated from the Marquette University School of Medicine in 1970 and completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Illinois and Psychiatric Residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor - where he also completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship in 1978.
Dr. Barthel received a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Interprofessional Seminar Award for Ethics in 1981. He was Teacher of the Year in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1990. He received the Anthony Meyer Teaching Award in 2005 and 2008 for the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
His academic interests include Child Consultation Liaison, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, and Infant Psychiatry.
Dr. Barthel sees patients at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Center.
