Ross Carter, Ph.D.

Ross Carter, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Psychology at the Behavioral Health Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Dr. Carter completed his training at the California State College at San Jose, Michigan State University, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Dr. Carter has achieved board status is Family Psychology and has organized, managed, and taught a rotation in marital and family therapy for 13 years to psychiatry residents.  He has also initiated and carried out a research project together with members of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin on the psychological aspects of breast cancer.

His academic interests are system errors resulting in adverse effects on the emotional health and adaptation of system members, the effects of homophobia on the psychological development and adjustment of gay men, and the loss of autonomy in clinical judgment and practice as a result of institutional risk management.  Some of his publications include:

Dr. Carter sees patients at the Tosa Center Behavioral Health Center, 1155 N. Mayfair Road, Milwaukee, WI  53226, and specializes in married couples in distress, physician couples, marries couples with physical illness, gay couples, individuals with anxiety, depression, adjustment, grief, and general stress problems.
