Cynthia Geppert, MD, PhD, received her medical training at the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico. Certified in addiction medicine and board certified in psychosomatic medicine, Dr. Geppert also holds an MA in religious ethics from Vanderbilt University and a PhD in religious ethics with an emphasis in medical ethics from the International Reform University.
Dr. Geppert is Chief of Consultation Psychiatry and Ethics, Chief Psychiatrist at the Psychiatry Primary Care Clinic, and Chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee at the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System. She is concurrently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Associate Director of the Religious Studies Program at the University of New Mexico. Her research interests include consultation psychiatry, clinical ethics, spirituality in dual diagnosis, psychiatric education, informatics, addiction, and psychopharmacology.
