Jinger G. Hoop, M.D., M.F.A., is assistant professor and assistant director of the Empirical Ethics Group in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Hoop is a 2000 graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed a residency in adult psychiatry, a fellowship in clinical medical ethics, and a fellowship in psychiatric genetics, all at the University of Chicago. Dr. Hoop's research centers on the ethical issues arising from the use of genetic technologies in psychiatry. Her current research projects include surveys of psychiatrists regarding the clinical utility of genetic research findings; psychiatrist readiness to offer genetic counseling and testing; and ethical safeguards for pharmacogenetic testing and susceptibility testing in psychiatry. Dr. Hoop is also the principal investigator for "Genetic Testing for Schizophrenia: Views of Patients, Families, and Clinicians," a survey study that will begin enrolling participants in 2007 and is funded by a National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) Young Investigator Award.
