The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division focuses on the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents and families. They provide second opinions, diagnostic evaluations and make treatment recommendations. Psychotherapy is also available through the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin clinic. The division continues to focus on the psychiatric problems of inpatients with chronic medical conditions. Members of the division also participate in studies of treatments for a variety of psychiatric conditions. An excellent, two year, child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship is offered that produces strong clinicians with ample opportunity for research and administrative exposure. Research has recently become a strength in the division as well. In collaboration with other investigators from the medical center campus, clinical trials, and pharmacogenomics, functional MRI and studies of phenomenology for a variety of diagnoses are underway or under development. The division receives funding from NIMH, foundations and the pharmaceutical industry to carry on these studies.
