LCME finds resources appear adequate to support MCW-Green Bay
The Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) has determined that resources appear adequate to support the establishment of MCW-Green Bay, according to correspondence received in March by Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) leadership.
The LCME does not give formal approval to open a new campus; rather, it makes a determination based on information provided by the school as to whether there appears to be adequate resources to support the proposed change, in this case, expansion. The LCME’s determination essentially means that MCW is on the right track in its development of a community campus in Northeast Wisconsin.
The LCME is the accrediting authority for educational programs at schools of medicine in the United States and Canada.
Meanwhile, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which conducted a site visit of MCW-Green Bay in January, is expected to consider MCW’s “Substantive Change Application” at its May meeting. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central Region of the U.S.
